Andrew Nelles is a photojournalist with The Tennessean in Nashville, Tenn. Prior to joining The Tennessean in 2015 he was a freelancer in Chicago, Ill., contributing to a variety of news organizations, including The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, The Associated Press, Reuters, and Crain's Chicago Business. His work has also appeared in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, and Time Magazine. Andrew has also pursued stories internationally including embedding with the military in Afghanistan in 2012 and 2010, as well as photographing projects in Turkish Kurdistan and Iraq. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago, Andrew has previously worked on the photo staff of The Chicago Sun-Times and as an intern for the Bucks County Courier-Times in Pennsylvania. Andrew's work has received numerous awards, including 2012 Sports Photojournalist of the Year from the Illinois Press Photographers Association, and other recognition from the National Press Photographers Association, and the Illinois College Press Association.
